Flower & Vegetable Show

The Next Flower & Vegetable Show will be held on the 17th August 2024

Introduction

Whether you are a long time gardener or a newcomer to being an allotment holder, the 17th August 2024 is a must -do date for your diary.  Whatever your passion to grow, you will have something to enter in this the 7th Daventry Flower and Vegetable Show. It is something the whole family can get involved in.

There are various prizes to be won from individual classes to overall winner, there is also a children's category.

What you can see on the day

Exhibitors will be showing off their porduce from giants pumpkins, succulent fruits, beautiful flowers to tasty jams and cakes.  All children who enter will receive a certificate for their efforts and a rosette if they are awarded 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize.

Local Crafts stalls will also be present and the Daventry Model Railway Club will be displaying one of their largest layouts with members on hand to answer any questions.

There will be a raffle and a "Guess the weight" competition held during the show, along with refreshments, with homemade cakes and tea and coffee to purchase.

The culmination of the show will be an auction of the exhibits (with the exhibitors permission), so your chance to buy some great home grown produce.  All monies raised from the raffle and the competitions will be donated to our recognised charity

Event Schedule

9:30 am Registration and presentation of entries

11:00am - Judging of Entries

1:00pm - Show opens to the public

3:00pm - Presentation of prizes by the Mayor

3:15pm - Winners of competitions announced

3:25pm - Auctioning of the produce

4:00pm - Show Closes

Show entry requirements

Entry to the show is open to all Daventry allotment holders and allotment holders and gardeners in the Daventry area who are members of DAGA.

All eligible entrants are requested to encourage their children and other children to take part in the show.

The allotment store is located on the Welton Road Allotment Site, Welton Road, Daventry (the road behind the ICon Centre)  Opening hours are every Sunday from 10am to 11:30am

Exhibitor's Fee

The entry fee for each Exhibitor is £4.00 which allows exhibitors to enter 5 classes, any additional classes entered are changed at 30p per class.

The Entry for Children and Teenagers classes is free.

Registration

The Saxon Room will be open for registration at 9:30am

Exhibitors will be issued a registration number which will be shown on the exhibit cards for each class that you enter.  Display your entries on the table positions as indicated by the table and class label.  A plate will be provided for this and the only exception is the mixed vegetable class where you can use your own container/plate or basket.  Ensure you place your exhibit card next to your exhibit but you must not interfere with any other entrees.

Prizes

A prize will be presented to the best in the category for the first five categories and for the best in each class in the chidrens/teenagers categories.  Rosettes will be given for the top three best exhibits in each class.

Prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Daventry.
